19/1/2010

After five years’preparation the second collection of the largest on-line museum in the world entitled Discover Baroque Art will be launched on 21. 1. 2010. The project, which came into being as a collaboration of eight European countries, including the Czech Republic, is part of Museums With No Frontiers and aims to bring closer to people the neglected treasures of our cultural heritage. The project partner on behalf of the Czech Republic is the Moravian Gallery in Brno and the preparation team is led by the curator Zora Wörgötter. Discover Baroque Art juxtaposes little known works of the European Baroque with popular heritage monuments from the period between the Council of Trent (1563) and the Congress of Vienna (1815). Within the project, the Moravian Gallery in Brno will present items from its own collections as well as many works from ecclesiastical institutions and other museums in Moravia and the most important monuments from the Baroque era in the region. The virtual museum can be visited at http://www.museumwnf.org.
